Ashley L. Redmond Interview

Ashley L. Redmond

Who are you?

ALR: I am Ashley L. Redmond and I am, Strong, Empowered and Classy! And fabulous!

 What do you do?

ALR: My day job is being a Social Media Marketer with Quicken Loans. My night job (well not really a job per se…) is volunteering for Respect My Vote, a non-partisan organization dedicated to registering and encouraging Detroiters to vote in the upcoming election. Lastly, my all the time job is being awesome 😉

What are you passionate about?

ALR: My passion has always been focused on making a difference in the world around me. Whether that be with helping people, encouraging others, project management or facilitating change, I want to use my skills to leave a lasting mark on the world that says she didn’t just let things happen, she MADE them happen.
You may take this is me saying I’m passionate about being a leader but that is not necessarily the case. Naturally, a leader does effect others but my passion is for making a difference with or without the title. If by doing what I love to do, I’m identified as a leader that’s quite fine by me, but that’s something I want to show, not just to claim.

Strength refers to the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor; mental power, force; moral power, firmness, courage; power by reason of influence, authority, resources, numbers, etc. What makes you strong? Tell us how it strengthens you.

ALR: Focus makes me strong, it is the initiating force behind the other qualities needed to be successful. When you focus, truly focus, you will be strong. Think of light. A light is something that we use for everyday life and can be seen as nothing special but when it’s focused in a laser, it can cut through anything. When a light is focused, it is strong. When I am focused, I am strong.

Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, or economic strength of individuals and communities. Where does your sense of empowerment derive from?

ALR: My sense of empowerment comes from my confidence in my knowledge of the world and how to play the rules of the game. My parents carved the values and ideas that lead my perceptions about politics, education and socializing myself among others. Ultimately, these ideas make me feel like I can take on the world!

Classy refers to being elegant, stylish; having or reflecting high standards of personal behavior; admirably skillful and graceful. How important is it to maintain a sense of class in your life or field?

ALR: It is very important to maintain a sense of class in my life, as well as, any young woman’s life. Now more than ever life is a stage that we may or may not know that we are playing on. Anyone could be watching at any time, which is why maintaining class in daily interactions, special events and in networking settings is so important. My work in social media keeps my life pretty public and I live my life in a way that if someone snaps a picture, I will not be ashamed to post it right on the top of my Facebook page.

Life is truly a Ashley L. Redmondjourney. Are you proud of where and who you are right now? Why?

ALR: Today, I am a woman of substance, honor, positivity, spirituality and confidence so my journey has definitely been a great one. During my few years on this earth I have touched a lot of lives in a positive way from what I do for others, my positive demeanor or just helping people when I see a need. These are things I will carry in my life going forward and build on as well. I am proud of where I am and where I will be, because it is going to be good!

AllINeedIsOneMic.com is a company that may also feature the Jane Thang Productions, LLC’s Strong, Empowered and Classy Project Highlights. The premise of this site refers to needing that one opportunity to present your talent and shine. If you had the opportunity to speak for the masses, what would you say?

ALR: As the voice of the masses, I would ask the music industry to dramatically increase the substance of our music. Music is a driving force behind the emotions of the people, by improving the messages distributed, to some degree, we will improve the state of society. Think of the days of the civil rights movement and the era of Black empowerment, the music spoke to the movement that was going on. One fed the other and increased the strength of the message. If we increase the strength of positive messages, and of empowering messages, it will change the state of the society as a whole.
