Who are you?

LB: My name is Lauren Bealore and I am Strong, Empowered, and Classy.

What do you do?

LB: Currently, I am a Data Collector for Girls On the Move, a program through the MSU College of Nursing Research Department. This research study focuses on the overall physical health of young girls ages 10-14 by monitoring their daily activity. The program wants to promote a healthy lifestyle for young girls in their phase of pubertal development. Also, I am an intern for Fashion Law Week. As an intern, I learn about the intricate details of Intellectual Property law for the fashion industry while connecting with high fashion retailers, managing the social media accounts, and attending events. I am also the co-founder of Y.A.B., an organization dedicated to promoting the motto of “lifting as we climb” by supporting and marketing the business ventures of women of color between 18-30 years of age.

What are you passionate about?

LB: I am passionate about two main things: successful business development for not only women, but more specifically women of color and fashion. This is why I plan to use my future career as a Fashion Law attorney to expand upon professions for young women of color by teaching them about researching and building upon career opportunities instead of just getting a “job”. This will propel the idea of advancement rather than simply comfort.

Strength refers to the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor; mental power, force; moral power, firmness, courage; power by reason of influence, authority, resources, numbers, etc. What makes you strong? Tell us how it strengthens you.

LB: What makes me strong is that I have a very tenacious and limitless mentality. I never put constraints on my paths in life. Yes, we all have setbacks; however, what do we do after we have the setbacks? That’s what sets apart the strong from the weak.

Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, or economic strength of individuals and communities. Where does your sense of empowerment derive from?

LB: My sense of empowerment derives from those that have come before me. I take women such as Shirley Chisholm, Shonda Rhimes, June Ambrose, Mara Brock Akil, Angela Davis, Suzanne de Passe and Nikki Giovanni to build upon inspiration of what missions I need to accomplish and why it is possible.

Classy refers to being elegant, stylish; having or reflecting high standards of personal behavior;

admirably skillful and graceful. How important is it to maintain a sense of class in your life or field?

LB: Class leads to you being well-respected in your life as well as field of choice. I’ve always liked the motto: “I am well-respected because I respect myself”. There are many young women that are intelligent and have a lot of talents to offer; however, the way they have branded themselves depletes that notion.

Life is truly a journey. Are you proud of where and who you are right now? Why?

LB: I can definitely say I am proud of who and where I am right now, as well as where I am headed! I love the standards and bar that I have set for myself and the heights I have reached to accomplish all of my goals. I also like that I don’t do it in a haughty matter, but more so to inspire others to do the same.

AllINeedIsOneMic.com is a company that may also feature the Jane Thang Productions, LLC’s Strong, Empowered and Classy Highlights. The premise of this site refers to needing that one opportunity to present your talent and shine. If you had the opportunity to speak for the masses, what would you say?

LB: If I had the opportunity to speak for the masses, I would say that there is a difference between education and knowledge. Education is systematic. Knowledge is acquired. Collectively, what we need is knowledge to gain power and power leads to impactful change.
