Maryam Moma Interview
Who are you?
My name is Maryam Moma. I am, Strong, Empowered and Classy. I am a daughter and sister, twin, world-traveler, lover of Love and (vintage) Balmain, advocate of the Eco-sustainable and environmentally conscious. I love caramel ice cream, and dancing in the rain. I would go great lengths to spend an hour near water, in the sun. I seek to share positivity and light to all those willing to embrace it.
What do you do?
I am an Entrepreneur- Founder and Owner at Yamerra, an all natural skin care and hair care company based in Manhattan, New York.
I am passionate about creativity, food, art, music, traveling, exploring different countries and learning other cultures. I love Yamerra, and use it as a platform to share awareness about being and living sustainably.
Strength refers to the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor; mental power, force; moral power, firmness, courage; power by reason of influence, authority, resources, numbers, etc. What makes you strong? Tell us how it strengthens you.
Life’s challenges and the determination to succeed. Hurdles, facing them head-on, tackling and forging ahead strengthens me, teaches perseverance and consistency.
Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, or economic strength of individuals and communities. Where does your sense of empowerment derive from?
My mum, my sisters. I come from a line of very strong women- loving, highly educated, successful, enlightened and driven. They inspire and serve as a reminder that all things are possible when there is a real will to succeed.
Classy refers to being elegant, stylish; having or reflecting high standards of personal behavior; admirably skillful and graceful. How important is it to maintain a sense of class in your life or field?
I must state that maintaining a sense of class is necessary for all women. It makes a difference in personal delivery, in business and in everyday life. It may also make a difference between getting what you reach for and not.
Life is truly a journey. Are you proud of where and who you are right now? Why?
I am. I am also thankful and blessed to have achieved what I have in life so far. I am extremely well-traveled, traveling since age 14 on my own (thanks to mum), I make a mean Risotto (difficult feat I tell you), I speak three languages, I graduated from college with a 5 year degree (Bachelor of Architecture) at age 21, I have a Masters Degree in Business Administration (and graduated Magna Cum Laude), and I have nurtured Yamerra, currently six years old, (without outside investment).
If you had the opportunity to speak for the masses, what would you say?
Find what motivates you, what drives you, what you love. Hone your skills to not just be good at it, but great at it. Empower yourself, work hard to reach beyond your peak but don’t forget to live and laugh and love while you are at it.
